Unprecedented in its scope and vision, AIEH 2026 is a seminal conference designed to bring together leading researchers, educators, technologists, cognitive psychologists, social scientists, philosophers, policymakers, and other experts. Convened at a pivotal moment—as humankind stands at a crossroads—it calls for broad wisdom to foresee the future, particularly through education’s vital role in steering human destiny. An articulation of the conference’s theme is thus essential.
Over the last ten years, we have witnessed pandemic diseases, growing societal polarization, escalating regional conflicts, and the inexorable degradation of our natural world. These crises are unfolding simultaneously and reinforcing one another. At the same time, technological advancement has accelerated dramatically. We now face profound uncertainty about whether these technologies will end all life on Earth or help humanity move toward lasting peace and flourishing.
We are entering a Seamless AI World—an always-connected reality in which artificial intelligence is ubiquitous, context-aware, and woven into everyday life. People increasingly interact with one or more AI companions—at home, at work, and in school—across physical and virtual spaces. AI systems are no longer merely reactive; they are becoming proactive and anticipatory, shaping personalized and adaptive learning environments in real time.
These transformations compel a fundamental rethinking of education: why we learn, what we learn, how learning unfolds, who participates in learning relationships, what tools mediate learning, and how learning is guided and assessed in the AI era.
Why education? This may be the ultimate question for future education in an age of AI transformation and global volatility. Global Harwell (https://globalharwellgoal.org/), both a concept and an initiative, seeks to offer a plausible response. It articulates a shared educational goal grounded in harmony and wellbeing, spanning local and global contexts. Global Harwell calls for learning that enables people to live balanced, meaningful, and responsible lives—caring for themselves, for others, and for the planet. In an AI-rich world, it offers a hopeful compass, guiding education and technology toward human dignity, social trust, and a more peaceful future for all.
With the breadth and potential impact of AIEH2026, we anticipate that this interdisciplinary dialogue will generate numerous novel and significant research avenues. To support sustained global engagement, the conference will be strategically hosted across Asia, Europe, and the Americas over the coming years.
